Moshe Safdie’s three towers and the 340-metre SkyPark have defined Singapore’s skyline since 2010. Below them: about 1,850 rooms, a convention centre, the ArtScience Museum, 270 shops and a 15,000 m² casino that only adults over 21 with a passport may enter.
Overview
Marina Bay Sands is the integrated resort Las Vegas Sands built after winning Singapore’s Marina Bay tender, at a cost of about S$8 billion. The casino and part of the hotel soft-opened on 27 April 2010; the official opening followed in June and the grand opening, with the SkyPark and ArtScience Museum, in February 2011. Wikipedia describes it as one of the most profitable casino properties in the world.
For a hotel guest the casino is one element among many: the 150-metre rooftop infinity pool (guests only), the Sands Theatre, the nightly Spectra light show, Gardens by the Bay across the road and a shopping mall with an indoor canal. The hotel holds a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating, with Five Stars for its Paiza Collection suites.
Location
10 Bayfront Avenue, on the south side of Marina Bay, with Bayfront MRT station beneath the mall and the Helix Bridge leading to the city centre. Changi Airport is about 20 minutes by taxi. From Norway the trip is one stop via a European or Middle Eastern hub; Singapore is a natural stopover on the way to Australia.

The casino: Marina Bay Sands Casino
The casino covers about 15,000 m² (160,000 sq ft) on four levels with roughly 500 gaming tables and 3,000 electronic gaming machines, according to Wikipedia. It is operated by Marina Bay Sands Pte Ltd under a licence from the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore (formerly the Casino Regulatory Authority). It is one of only two casinos permitted in Singapore; the other is at Resorts World Sentosa.

Casino history
Singapore debated casinos for decades before the government announced in 2005 that two “integrated resorts” would be licensed, with the casino strictly a component of a larger tourism complex. Las Vegas Sands won the Marina Bay site in 2006 and built it through the financial crisis; the casino opened in April 2010, a few weeks after Resorts World Sentosa.
The Casino Control Act set the safeguards that still apply: entry from age 21, a daily or annual levy for citizens and permanent residents (raised in April 2019 to S$150 and S$3,000), a national self-exclusion system and a ban on casino advertising to locals. The regulator was renamed the Gambling Regulatory Authority on 1 August 2022.
